To protect your personal identity, CREC is going the extra mile to prevent identity theft. Beginning November 1, 2009, all utilities must comply with the Federal Trade Commission "Red Flag" rule. A red flag is a pattern, practice or activity that indicates the possible existence of identity theft. For our members, this means we will take more time to authenticate your identification. Perhaps we will ask you to verify some additional information when you call or ask you for a photo ID when you come in to start or change an account. These extra steps may take a few more minutes, but protecting your identity is worth it.
